Who we are
Teachers who have found a home, and children who
are genuinely known.
Teachers stay for years, families know one another by name, and new visitors rarely feel like strangers for long. Children are known here — by name, by story, by what lights them up.
Our roots
A small farm school, that grew up.
We grew from a small farm school on this land, and the trees outside our preschool windows are the same trees that have watched generations of our children learn to read. Real places, real tasks, real relationships. That part has not changed.
1982
Broadacres Farm & Nursery School opens its gates.
2017
Acquired by ThriveEd, and reborn as Broadacres Academy.
2020
New Syringa campus completed.
2022
High School campus completed in Chartwell.
2024
Senior Prep campus completed in Chartwell.

Broadacres Academy is an independent school, accredited by ISASA and registered with the IEB, GDE and Umalusi. Our matric is the IEB National Senior Certificate.
All four bodies audit us against their own standards — academic, financial and governance — so the work we do stands up to outside scrutiny.

Fees at Broadacres are set grade by grade, with the aim of keeping this kind of education within reach of more families in our community — not just a few.
Annual increases are kept as modest as responsibly possible, broadly in line with educational inflation, so long-term planning remains realistic for families.

Our three campuses sit on 25 acres in Broadacres and Chartwell — forest, open fields, indigenous bush, and intentional buildings that open onto all of it. Every corner is a place to learn. Every campus is a short drive from the next, so children and siblings move through the school together.

Chartwell Senior Prep Campus
Home to The Forest, there is natural green space for the children to use for break, for play, for outdoor projects and quiet thinking. It is a hands-on project area and peaceful reading corner... a place for big questions thought through out loud.
Grade 7 — Grade 12
Chartwell High School Campus
Directly opposite Senior Prep, a few steps across Fifth Street. We have labs, studios, seminar-style classrooms, and room for students to defend their own ideas.
